In fact it's an electronization of a Manfred Schling's game : ZATRE.

You can find rules into the ZIP file but I found this game here :
French : http://jeuxsoc.fr/jeu/zatre
English : http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/2938/zatre

If there is a volonteer to translate all the texts ? ( just find the array mess$[] )

Unfortunately I have not succeeded in creating apk with BASIC! compiler Nicolas :(

Cheers

Gilles

EDIT: the zip file is the good one that permit me to make the APK with Nicolas's BASIC! Compiler.

Wohoo another quality game from my favorite game maker ;)

Where were you stuck when trying to compile with BASIC! Compiler?

Nicolas

Hello Nicolas,
ben y a juste le message "BASIC! s'est arrêté" au lancement, mais pas de soucis indiqué lors du travail de BASIC! Compiler...
Peut-être une affaire d'accès aux ressources ?
C'est un peu complexe donc si tu veux bien continuer via MP siouplé ;) :)

C'est magnifique!

I love scrabble, never heard before of one based on dice before Gilles.

I'll volunteer to do the translation, I can't speak French though...! Apart from very, very simple words and phrases.

I'll REM out the French mess$[] and replace it with that code in English. As well as the dialog box and other bits I've seen.

Maybe a bilingual could just proof test what I've put down, but things should be clear from the link you supplied in English on the rules.

It's a great game, the graphics work very fluidly.

Now... what about Scrabble itself as your next challenge?

:)

Mog

Thx Mog
Congratulations for your 1000th post :ugeek: :)

There too many Scrabble version on G..P.. :(

Generaly I try to code games that you can't find elsewhere or not exactly the same...

But I admit that about the Scrabble I thought to ask for help from Nicolas who code his absolutely excellent Bookworm where he reads dictionary, for a program that can give the best word based on the letters we have...

It could be your challenge too Mog :)

Cheers

Gilles

PS : I think I found a volonteer for the translator... bug only in English : mess$[] can be translated in any other language. Just care of string lengths.

Great gilles, if you get stuck then let me know on the English/American translation.

Yes, Nicolas's Bookworm is a great game, and if I remember rightly from the post he made he mentioned access was surprisingly fast to the word database.

I have a list of many projects that I am to do; one dates back from 2006! So I am out on the Scrabble one!

Yes sorry I can't help on this one, I'll let others do the translation, but I did help Gilles with his compilation error ;)

So for the others reading us: "Zabble.apk" crashed due to a permission problem.

When Cassiope34 built the APK of his game, the BASIC! Compiler auto-detected 3 permissions needed for the program.
Permissions can be seen in the "Advanced settings" screen as usual, in Zabble case they were:
  • #1: "Write external storage" (all right)
  • #5: "Wake lock" (again fine, since Zabble calls the BASIC! command WAKELOCK)
  • and finally the #9 permission: "Read phone state"

Image

(Nota: I just changed the visual of the first permission, as per Peter's feedback, before it was a USB logo, now it's a SD R/W)

Gilles' error was to disable the last permission, thinking it was useless ;)
Without this permission, at the beginning of his program, the call to the BASIC! command "DEVICE" simply crashed the program, without further information...
Because the "DEVICE" command needs the "Read phone state" permission to work.

Morale of the story: unless you really know what you are doing, it is always best to trust the BASIC! Compiler on his choice of permissions, and keep them as suggested

Nicolas

Wonderful Nicolas,

just MKDIR create the repertory and don't react if it already exists... good !
Just using MKDIR "Zabble/" and the repertory is created under the "APK repertory/data/"

All work fine...

I'm happy :)

The game and its APK will be share on the FTP soon.

Cheers

Gilles

PS: is there any volonteer to draw me a nice icon for the APK ? ( what must be its size Nicolas ? )
