I received an email from a BASIC! programmer:
Thomas wrote:
Since few days, rfo basic ide dont ne able to load .bas programs,. Trust go anti virus ask for uninstall this program because he is dangerous.

What to do to restaure first confidence

i own compilator. but without ide, compilator dont work.
Nothing in BASIC! has changed in the last few days [MONTHS! :? ] but clearly something changed on Thomas's device.

1. Has anyone gotten a recent error where BASIC! can't load .BAS files?
2. Has anyone else gotten an anti-virus warning about BASIC!?

BASIC! requires a lot of permissions, but it only uses a few. Most of the permissions are for BASIC! programs to use. Could this be a problem for anti-virus?
I will advise Thomas to check "Developer Options -> Don't keep activities"; something may have changed it.

Any other ideas?

- Marc

Despite its name I wouldn't trust TrustGo Antivirus.
I'm pretty sure the problem comes from it and only it (not from the Android settings).

It is very easy for a so called antivirus to declare that an app is malware because it registers all the permissions. Clearly they don't know RFO BASIC! and their algo makes a false positive.

Thomas should contact these guys and tell them the problem. If they are smart they will revise their algo.
If they are not Thomas will have to uninstall TrustGo Antivirus.

Nicolas

most Android antivirus is bogus, maybe except some well known names like Kaspersky, Avast and such. even then, if you download everything from the official marketplace you should never need one.

so it's almost definitely just the antivirus.

also, if you have Google Play Services installed it already comes with an inbuilt malware scanner.
meanwhile, here's extra info: https://www.extremetech.com/computing/1 ... do-instead
