Possible impact of longer file names on whether a program will run? While writing programs on laptop and running/testing them over USB cable with the Launcher, I have noticed that the same program which runs quite happily when called for example "sc1.bas" will often fail to generate any output when renamed to "solar_coordinates.bas". It doesn't happen all the time and sometimes it will work just fine but often a program which wouldn't run can be made to work simply by giving it a short file name. The Launcher doesn't produce any error and says the file is transfered and backed up ok in the normal manner. Its intuitive at the moment that the filename is somehow involved as I can't pin it down to anything concrete but was wondering if anyone else had programs which are coded correctly but which won't run until the filename is shortened.

Could be the use of the underline (_) instead? Unusual characters may lead to problem in some parts of Android system. Try solarcoordinates.bas instead, for example. I run into trouble by using vowels with accents (usual in latin languages).
