Hello Gentlemen,

After 4.5 good years (some even excellent) and 6 undoubtedly painful months in the RFO BASIC! scene, it is time to bid you farewell.

I am very sad to have seen so little of jMarc in the past year, so my decision is not to spend any more time on a project abandoned by its maintainer.

Maybe when (if) RFO BASIC! development resumes I will be back, if it's not too hard putting my nose in old code again.

Most of my old acquaintances have already left the forum (tony_gr, stefano_p...) so it was only a matter of time.

As a goodbye present, I am giving you the source code of my unfinished -partly functional- GW App Composer:
http://laughton.com/basic/programs/html/GW App Composer (unfinished)

See you maybe on another corner of the internet! ;)

PS: support for the Android Compiler is still maintained, but without new release there should not be any problem! In the last 6 months I only received 1 or 2 mails for Compiler support, no big reason it changes...

PPS: for my other -discontinued- tools please refer to their source code at https://github.com/mougino
A few are missing (I'm thinking BASIC! Launcher), I will add them as soon as physically possible (i.e. after I'm back from China where half the web is unavailable).

I'm so sorry but many thanks and good luck to you Nicolas.

PS: For those concerned, can we hope for version v1.91 of VIP Android BASIC! Compiler ?

Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish! (Dumb Douglas Adams quote)
I hope you find the heart to join us back soon, and if you don't, thanks for all the help, as I've been fan of gwlib from early stages.

Nicolas, I hope you are coming back soon to close the big gap you are leaving behind.
Good luck, family man.

Wow! What a (final?) farewell!

Thank you for your support. Thank you for putting up with amateurs like me. Thank you for not allowing me to use a PC by implementing BASIC! Compiler. You have been a very important person to BASIC!.

I don't know how you guys do it. Work in I.T. then come home and do it, then with families at the same time...

I miss the very eloquent jMarc as well. He has inspired me to go off and do other things to try and progress -- it's amazing that this has created a very close thing to the BASIC I remember as a kid, despite the Android daedalian-ism's.

I will miss you.

I think I was around here when creator Paul just left? All I remember is jMarc, Tony_GR and yourself. All of you have a had a good legacy in talent to have made things possible.

Thanks to all else, that made this project very unique, very special.

I hate goodbye times! But if it is so, I hope you inspire a few people in your next project.

So sorry I didn't see this post sooner!!

Thanks Nicolas for all of your incredible work and kind instruction and encouragement!

BASIC! was/is such a blessing to me since I suffered some neurological damage after being extremely ill in the early 90s. I had always wanted to get back into doing some programming but I found it impossible to concentrate to learn modern OO languages (still do).

In about the past 3 years I dished out more than 30 apps.... not too shabby for a guy who is arguably a little brain dead :) A lot of my stuff will probably be tagged by Google as zombie apps, but I was able to make stuff that helped me with my own problems and I learned a lot on the way (plus I started eating much healthier with my dieting apps)

I use your rfo-compiler almost every day and admire all your work (BTW my in-laws are still addicted to Bookworm).

I hope all goes well for you in your professional and personal life and hope you will stop back here again from time to time.
