I am not sure if this just happens on my LG phone, but when I go to background in HTML mode, open Chrome and exit and then return to BASIC! I usually get a crash

This program illustrates the problem:

Code:
REM Start of BASIC! Program
html.open 0
for i=1 to 25
pause 2000

home
pause 3000

do
pause 500
bk=background()
until !bk
popup "foreground"
next i

If you run it, let it go to background, open chrome to some webpage, exit chrome and go back in to basic! then the program crashes.."Unfortunately BASIC! has stopped."

There seems to be a conflict with BASIC! in background html mode and the Chrome browser.

I suppose as a workaround I could close HTML mode in the background and reload the page but I was just wondering if this is a bug.

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't reproduce on my Sony (5.1.1, 1.89.06)
When you say "exit chrome" do you mean hit home to put it in background? (what I did) or hard kill it? (open tasks and swipe it out of the screen)

It crashes both when I hard kill Chrome as well as putting Chrome in background.

So far I don't think it has anything to do with the javascript or Data Saver settings in Chrome...

Maybe I can try messing with some other Chrome settings and see if goes away..
I will try doing settings reset on my phone too to see if that helps.

I am running Android 5.1.1 and Basic! 1.89.06 also

Really could be an LG quirk again.

What is the version of your Android System WebView?
(in Settings > Apps > Android System WebView > Properties)
Mine says 40.0.2564.106

Mine is also 40.0.2564.106...

The problem also seems to happen when I open the Opera Browser or Gmail client after sending an html app to background.

I'll experiment more. It's no big deal though since I was mainly thinking of using it for my food diary app which seems to cold launch pretty quickly now
most of the time anyways. Even if I got the background mode working I would have to rework the main loop of the program to check for date changes to archive the last day. I will mess with that someday but for now I am just trying to figure out why our downloads are going up but our current installs are staying fixed.

UPDATE: I am pretty sure this issue has gone away.. I think the real problem was some memory leaks in my
apps caused by bad SQLITE calls. broken DO-UNTIL loops and other nasties.
