Currently there are 2 different sections for "time" commands, it is particularly visible in the table of content of De Re BASIC! (do a search on "time" starting at the top)

One section starts at page 62 and is called "Time functions", it contains only 3 functions:
De Re BASIC! wrote:
Time Functions 62
CLOCK() 62
TIME() 62
TIME(<year_exp>, <month_exp>, <day_exp>, <hour_exp>, <minute_exp>, <second_exp>) 63

The other section starts at page 127 and is called "Time and Timers", it contains much more functions:
De Re BASIC! wrote:
Time and Timers 127
Time and TimeZone Commands 127
Time {<time_nexp>,} Year$, Month$, Day$, Hour$, Minute$, Second$, WeekDay, isDST 127
TimeZone.set { <tz_sexp> } 128
TimeZone.get <tz_svar> 128
TimeZone.list <tz_list_pointer_nexp> 128
Timer Interrupt and Commands 128
Timer.set <interval_nexp> 128
OnTimer: 128
Timer.resume 128
Timer.clear 129
Sample Code 129

For user-friendliness, shouldn't we merge the 2 sections into 1 ?

Of course I report this because I myself was misleaded by this ;)
I was looking for the function to return the current time, I searched "time" in the manual, clicked the first occurence (TIME(), to set the time) and stood there for almost a minute, trying to decide if my memory was playing a trick on me or I somehow got a corrupted manual... :lol:

Yes, I prefer a common section for all time commands/functions as well.

Merge! Never managed to understand timezone, though, as I wanted it to fix a server reading with my local time, so I always present local timezone time.

Nicolas, I was not ignoring your request. I didn't see it until today. I injured my leg last week (torn muscle). It has been very difficult to sit at a computer, and my day job got all the sitting time I could tolerate. (I first typed "all the sitting time I could stand", but that is just a little too idiomatic English, I think!)

Thank you, humpty. Yes, this is an oldie.

Another suggestion for a volunteer: many, many, many hyperlinks. If there were links from the TIME() function group to the TIME command group, and vice versa, finding things would be easier.

Since the manual is also a user guide, it would be nice to have sections like "Time", "Audio", "Web", "Graphics" (that one would need subsections!) with descriptions and how-tos. They would have no commands! But they could have links to commands. I have some very small sections like that above some command groups, but not enough. This is similar to the problem of needing to put more examples in the manual. Organization becomes a huge problem when the manual becomes huge.

- Marc
