I have been working on a music player in BASIC, i will admit i like basic a lot. I would like to do a test compile to an apk. I a bit confused on how to go about this. Any help would be great. Lastly, i also want to get permission to access the sd card. Do i do that when its compiled?
Thank you

Hi charles from Chicago,

I'm new, but from my experiences... I have used the original APK builder. This allows you to add pictures, web stuffs, audio, etc. to your APK at install time. I don't know if the quick APK builder is this powerful. However the original APK builder takes like hours to get up and running. The good news is when you compile your APK you end up with a whole lot more going for you in my opinion.

I think there is a section you can download it here.

Hi Charles, welcome to the forum!

There are several APK builders: Quick APK for windows, x-quick-apk for Linux and BASIC! Compiler for Android.

All of them allow you to set permissions, including accessing the SD Card.

Tell us about your progress! ;)

Nicolas

i wouldn't use Eclipse for simple builds, because it's a lot more involved process than QuickAPK for example. QuickAPK is free, should suit most needs and it's easy to use.

You can use Android AIDE.

Search for "site:rfobasic.freeforums.org aide" in google.

Hello from the UK!

When I purchased BASIC! Compiler, to compile on an Android device – I used a Google Play store gift voucher – that way you do not, at least in this territory have to provide any credit card details.

As Nicolas suggested you can use AIDE which you can find on the Google Play store.

I bookmarked these posts ages ago... There's probably others as Nicolas suggested.

APK compilation with AIDE

compiling-an-apk-with-android-aide-t2895-10.html

step-by-step-tutorial-to-compile-using-android-aide-t4229.html

I haven't tried this, it's just on my list to try from a challenge perspective.
