Hello, all!

Mini-announcement: I'm back. If you're relatively new to the forum you don't know me. When BASIC!'s designer, Paul Laughton, was being treated for cancer in 2013, I took over the Java source. 2016 was an amazing year for me, very stressful, and BASIC! gradually got crowded out. But that's over, and I'll be answering questions and taking bug fixes and enhancement requests as before. I'm not quite sure how to go about catching up, but for the moment that's secondary, because:

MEGA-ANNOUNCEMENT: Effective March 15, 2017, the Google Play store Privacy Policy requirement will be enforced. If Google thinks your app needs a Privacy Policy, and it doesn't have one, Google will "limit visibility" of your app, and may remove your app from the Play store.

Google requires a Privacy Policy statement for all apps on the Google Play store that request certain permissions from the user. BASIC! requests MANY permissions, including many of the sensitive ones. Except for external storage access, it doesn't use them -- they are there so your programs can use them.

I will get out a new version of BASIC! with a Privacy Policy page accessible from the Editor.

However, many of you have apps on the Play store that run on BASIC!. YOU WILL NEED A PRIVACY POLICY.

I'm sorry for the short notice. Paul told me two weeks ago, but I was caught up in finishing a massive project at work and I didn't think it through. If I need a Privacy Policy for BASIC!, you need one for your apps, too.

I'll open a topic on the "Questions or comments" board where we can talk about the details.

- Marc
