I installed the Android-x86-6.0-r1.iso on my asus Netbook. Android is running. I also installed Basic!. If I start the BASIC! App, the letters are on a black Background and the BASIC! menu is not visible. Have You an idea, what is the matter?
THX for Your help. CU Uwe

Hi Uwe

Please install Android-x86 6.0-r2 (Marshmallow-x86) (2017/01/13) first.

From r1 to r2 update Mesa to 13.0.3.
Mesa is a graphic subsystem.

Could solve your problem.

/ Gregor

Hi Gregor,
thx for Your help. r2 is installed now. But the Editors textcolor and the background Color are still black. Also trying to change in Preferences->Screen Colors -> Custom Colors was without results. It's a problem of netbook or I have to update Mesa manually?
(Try to run r2 and BASIC! on PC was successful.)
Uwe

Hi Uwe

ReleaseNote 6.0-r2
Android-x86 6.0-r2 (Marshmallow-x86) (2017/01/13)

....
Known issues
Suspend and resume doesn't work on some devices.

Here Code from BASIC!'s Editor.java

Code:
   @Override
   protected void onResume() {
      super.onResume();

      if (Basic.getContextManager() == null) {            // if we have lost context then restart Basic Activity
      ...
      }

      if (mSavedInstanceState != null) {
      ...
      }

      if (Settings.changeBaseDrive) {
         doBaseDriveChange();
      }

      if (Run.Exit) {      // Somebody told Run to exit, so exit Editor, too.
         finish();      // Do not clear Exit here; it might still be seen by another Activity
         return;         // Instead, clear it in onCreate() the next time the Editor starts
      }

      if (Basic.DoAutoRun) {
         Log.e(LOGTAG, "onResume: AutoRun is set. Shutting down.");
         finish();
      } else {
         setTitle(ProgramFileName);
         menuItemsToActionBar(mMenu);

         mText.getPreferences(this);
         int SO = Settings.getSreenOrientation(this);
         setRequestedOrientation(SO);
         mText.setHorizontallyScrolling(!mText.mLineWrapSetting);      // set scrolling per Preferences

         if (SyntaxErrorDisplacement >= 0 &&
         ...
         }
      }

   }

You see,
setTitle(ProgramFileName);
menuItemsToActionBar(mMenu);

mText.getPreferences(this);

are setting the preferences in onResume().

So it is sadly a device driven problem.
It seems, it is an issue since release 2.2.

/Gregor

Hi Gregor,
thank You. Now I use Jota Text Editor as an external editor, write source and then "load and run" with BASIC!. It works :)
